Afterwards, buffalo horns are cut to shape using elaborate, traditional handicraft techniques. The cut-out free spaces between the broad teeth of the comb do not end precisely, but run obliquely. This production technique is called "Karlieren". The comb slips better through the hair and the danger of damaging the hair is significantly lower. Finally, the combs are carefully polished in three steps. The surface of the combs is gloss polished in the third and final step with a fine polishing red and beeswax.
